ValuePickr Stock Screener | Data approximations

Data approximations, if any, that are used in ValuePickr stock screener, are reported here.

1. Capital Expenditure data

No data provider is providing detailed cash flow statement data at the moment.

However as you are aware, Capex data is important for free cash flow calculations. We thus decided to make do with an approximation for Capital expenditure calculations. The results are pretty close to actual figures, and since we usually use this data to look for trends (is the company getting better, or worse), this is good enough. Till such time as we can locate someone who will provide cash flow statement detailed data, we need to live with this approximation.

Capital Expenditure = (NBlock_LFY-NBlock_PY1) + (CpWorkPrg_LFY-CpWorkPrg_PY1) + Depcn_LFY

We derive Capital Expenditure for a year by adding the difference in Net block (with previous year) plus difference in Capital Work in Progress (with previous year) and adding in the Depreciation for the year.

The results are pretty close. We have tried to verify this data approximation tolerance as best as we could, but there may be cases where there is significant discrepancy. If you find some cases with significant variation in Capital Expenditure data we use versus reported, do alert us.
